Named after the striking Podalirio species of butterflies (also known as Swallowtail), our single-varietal Merlot made its introduction to our range of wines back in 1999.
This is a terroir-driven Merlot that surely gets more beautiful with age. A powerful Super Tuscan with a dark, intense color and a nose dominated by notes of blackberry and blueberry with aromatics of dried flowers, and a noble spiciness of pepper, cocoa and vanilla. The palate is full with soft tannins, a long finish and a lingering taste of wild berries.
At Querceto, we wholeheartedly believe great wine is made in the vineyard.
It's the reason we focus on those grape varieties that best express our terroir, like Sangiovese.
It?s also why we apply organic techniques for managing our 28 acres of vines, and focus on producing wines of high quality without chemical treatment and as little disruption as possible to the natural surroundings.
