It's always wonderful to have our wines recognized for their quality by wine journalists and critics and it gives us great pleasure to share recent positive reviews of the Querceto wines from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, with tasting notes by Monica Larner.
Monica is crafting a series of articles sharing a detailed portrait of the beautiful, historic wine growing region of the Chianti Classico with a series of spotlights on each of the 7 comuni (or villages) that form the area.
The very first article published in the March edition features our village of Castellina in Chianti and we were thrilled to see our L'aura 2018 listed among her favorite discoveries in her tasting report.
TASTING NOTES
Venti IGT Toscana 2016, 93pts
This is an organic blend of Sangiovese and Merlot, paying homage to the winds ("venti" in Italian) that blow over this corner of Tuscany and are so effective in keeping the vines disease-free. The Querceto di Castellina 2016 Venti is an open and accessible wine that delivers a frank and honest set of aromas all centered around cherry, blackberry and sweet currant. The wine is silky and mid-weight with a good amount of cherry intensity and fruitiness on the finish.
Sei Chianti Classico Gran Selezione 2017, 91 pts
The Querceto di Castellina 2017 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Sei (made with organic fruit) opens to a dark and sultry appearance with dark garnet and sepia highlights. Fruit from the hot vintage comes through, with a focus on dried plum and dark cherry. You also get some dark spice with toasted clove, tobacco and campfire ash.
L'aura Chianti Classico 2018, 90 pts
Offered at a great price, the 2018 Chianti Classico L'aura (made with organic fruit) opens to a dark and sultry appearance with blackberry, dried cherry and plum. The fruit is bright and poised, ceding to light touches of smoked spice and tobacco. L'aura has a pristine and luminous fruity aura that gives this wine a distinct and attractive character.
